THD Challenge #10: Let’s Go!

Hi All! Ready to launch into spring and a new challenge month? Pack your bags!!

I’m taking you tropical, channeling the inspiration graphic, and Ms. Keren Baker,  who is always breaking the 4th wall with her cards!  See here and her Instagram. She rocks the acetate cards.

My card is interactive, engages the acetate and incorporates the blue vase and florals in our graphic, along with the colors and geometrics.

I really tuned into that transluscent aqua vase in the photo, and my aqua vellum seemed like a perfect fit, so I cut a circle from the Gina Marie circle cross stitch die, and designed the florals around it.

You’ll likely notice my love affair with the Wild Hibiscus set from Altenew lately.  I just can’t stop stamping these images on vellum!  And heat embossing!  This time I used gorgeous colored vellum with darker ink/embossing powder! All have been fussy cut.

All have been layered on paper embossed with WeRMemory Keepers Gemstone folder— another item I return to time and again!

Here you can see the folder’s dimension better!

I adhered the little dew drops for some interest.

Below you can see the little Delicata gold butterfly, stamped and embossed on gold paper, adhered to its acetate strip.

I flicked some gold Color Shine on the card and finished with washi inside!  The sentiment is from Waffleflower— which Tonya will be getting more of in the store soon!

Come play along and let us see where the inspiration takes you!

Other Supplies:
Altenew Striped Flowers (for the leaves)
MFT Primitive White cardstock

The Heart Desires: Challenge 9

thd9-feb

Hey Everyone!  It’s that time of the month again over at The Heart Desires and I am so excited to bring you some cards to brighten your February!

wp-1485836202961.jpg

Using Altenew’s Wild Hibiscus and Concord & 9th’s Crazy Awesome sets, I created my first card.  The flowers and bird were stamped on vellum in Unicorn white, heat embossed and fussy cut.

I have layered the focal point on Maggie Holmes’ Bloom and Gather papers.

For my red card, I am featuring Studio Calico’s scissors die— which isn’t easy to find, but Tonya has it for sale in the store!  Cut from foam and layered with pattern paper.

The flowers below are from the Crazy Awesome set, created the same way as those on the other card.  Border papers are from Maggie Holmes’ Bloom collection.

I hope you will get crazy creative with us this month over at The Heart Desires!

The Heart Desires Mid-Challenge

thd8_jan2017

January is nearing the end!  Have you written all your holiday thank you’s (no), New Year’s Greetings (no), belated holiday cards (no)?

And have you joined us over at THD for our 8th challenge?  If, like me, you answered no to the first three questions AND to the last question, well, what are you waiting for?!

My policy is that I can send thank you’s and New Years cards up until the last week of January (must be received by 1/31), and I am really trying to make that deadline!

If you need a further push, here’s my last card in my trio created for the challenge.

See others here.

I know, there’s no red featured in our inspiration graphic (one of these kids is always doing her own thing– sorry, not sorry), but I am pulling out the snowman and have worked in the lovely ice blues in the base paper, the sequin strand, and darker hues in the washi strip inside the card.

All papers featured here are from Snow Fun which can be found in The Heart Desires Store, along with other offerings from the collection!

The sequin strand is back with that darling snowman!! I’m trying to start a trend! Tag #ppsequinstrand  if you make one and share on IG!

Snow Fun: THD Challenge

Are you ready for retro, for winter, for all things sparkly and kitsch?  Then you are ready for The Heart Desires Challenge 7!

wp-1481004619611.jpg

I have a few other cards up my sleeve for this challenge, as it’s just so darn inspiring– but aren’t they all?  This card is a bit less of that kitschy mid-century vibe, but it does incorporate the Snow Fun papers by Carta Bella that will take you back to a snowy fun day in th 50’s!

wp-1481001008421.jpg

I used a wood veneer tree from Richard Garay’s Lumberjack collection– a nice contrast to the cherry wood of the die cut moose, which is by Echo Park.  Tonya has a fabulous die set, Buck and Doe from Gina Marie of which the Buck would have fit perfectly here.

The pink plaid is from Bloom paper collection.

The sentiment is part of the Snow Fun collection by Carta Bella.  In the photo above, you can see how I have propped up and curved it on the vellum die cut.

2016-12-05-09.04.23-1-01_wm.jpg.jpg

It has been stamped with silver Delicata ink and heat embossed.

Thanks for dropping by and walking through a snowy woodland with me.  Make sure to play along this month!  You have until the last day of 2016!  Can you believe it!

Can’t wait to see what festive creations you submit!

Happy holidays!

THD Challenge #6

Hey everybody, it’s that time again!

I teased you with the challenge pic, and now for some updated photos! Sorry for delay! I had reached my 3 gigabyte limit, but only realized that tonight after researching the issue upon failing to upload my photos yesterday and again tonight.

Won’t you play along with us this month?

Choose from the elements above to create your masterpiece and enter here by November 30th!

All patterned papers used here are from The Heart Desires Store: Carta Bella Autumn and Jen Hadfield Warm and Cozy collections.

I love how the Warm and Cozy papers can provide a great focal point, as in leaves background below. They also work so well with the thick, textured gorgeous designs of the Carta Bella papers.

The Concord and 9th tree ring looks great on plaid!

We had a large candle & glass globe surrounded by leaves as a centerpiece around the holidays, which prompted this design, and the 70’s hues add a nostalgic touch!

All of the ephemera here is part of the Warm and Cozy Collection.

The plaid washi is part of the Carta Bella Autumn collection!

Check out the rest of my team’s inspiration over at The Challenge! See you there!

No matter how you stack it…

Fall is awesome (once you get past the fact that summer has exited stage left).

Know what else is pretty cool?

The Heart Desires Challenge #5.

Check out this witty graphic!

Reminds me of Brach’s candy peanuts.  Remember those?

Love the non-traditional take on Halloween, but I typically love most things that buck the trend.

Here’s my fairly literal take, up close and personal.

wp-1475698651071.jpg

I cut my pumpkins, keeping the pieces together with washi and then carefully stamped the sentiments, all from Kaisercraft, most deconstructed via stamp surgery so I could make my own sentiment.  The bottom one is from a Christmas set, available at The Heart Desires.

The real deal, full size, in all its glory.

Pumpkin dies are from Carta Bella and Essentials by Ellen, cut from Crate Paper Bloom, available at The Heart Desires. Background paper is from Indigo Hills set.  Rose Gold Bazzill metallic paper provides the stem and edging.

The black mini-leaves panel is stenciled and heat embossed. Love the Richard Garay Knit embossing folder.  See the challenge post for links to products at The Heart Desires.

Inside finished with some coppery-rose washi that echoes the outside elements nicely.

And while you are there checking out the rest of our team’s inspiration, won’t  you play along this month?

We have a few new designers and lots of eye candy.  You have until 10/26 to show us what you got! So creep on over!

And creep it real, folks.

Bright Birthday

Happy Birthday, Lenae! Love this graphic Kimberly picked for Lenae, as she spent the last month, and then some, in Hawaii. I lived vicariously through her gorgeous pictures, and can’t wait to finally catch up with this girl soon IRL, as it’s been far too long.

I hope today brings her some sun (after a rainy, cold PNW weekend so far) and fond reflections on her past year with an eye on all that is to come!

Won’t you join me in wishing a bright, creative, lovely lady a day that is just the same?!

Hop along with us for inspiration and fun!

I actually made this card for Lenae specifically back in April!!! Early for once! 😉

Digi 1″ flair made with epoxy clear sticker. Up cycled coffee bag cottage leaf die.

Tonya sent me some goodies from The Heart Desires shop, including the new Concord & 9th Cake Stamp. So I figured I’d do it up for our hop, tropical style, coloring it with Prismas and Gamsol.

She also has the fab We R Memory Keepers Next Level embossing folders, like this pillow design. She has Maggie Holmes’awesome Bloom paper too.

Don’t you love how the little bird is popping up behind the cake? I deliberately cut and positioned the panel, and punched a hole on the banner, threading the sequin strand behind.

The sentiment is cut from Rose Gold metalic paper from Bazzill.

Hope you have lots of cake, Lenae, and enjoy your hop!
