Our sponsor today is The Stamp Market, a company that speaks to my modern and graphic heart!  I’ve used three of their products for today’s pieces and will soon feature more holiday and packaging goodnesss from them, so check out my instagram for updates!

First up, a dynamic duo with one with alternative holiday colors– perfect for someone who lives in Hawaii or is having a tropical Christmas.  I stamped so many of these flowers from the Botanicals Stamp & Cut set, playing with a variety of pinks and reds, so it became the focal point of all my designs.

wp-15135716782571006078688.jpg

My card also features the large Stemmed Leaves Die  cut from gorgeous green bokeh paper.  This die mirrors the stamped leaves in the Botanicals set.

wp-15135718219201457397157.jpg

Finally, the sentiment is part of the Holiday Hellos set, which is a fabulous mix of graphic lettering and sentiments for many occasions.  Here I stamped the Merry on thick linen vellum and heat embossed, then fussy cut.

Since it is an advent extravaganza after all, I decided to wrap these cards up in Neat & Tangled’s lacy envelope die which takes any card to the next level.  What’s behind door number two?

wp-15135720077551402493525.jpg

This version features more traditional colors and a bit of a retro feel.

wp-1513572191800-1922053126.jpg

The Botanicals set comes with a die to cut the flower, so I added a vellum layer over the stamped image.  Again I’ve included the large Stemmed Leaves die cut.

I included this close-up so you could see the gorgeous shimmer of the red paper on which I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from Julie Ebersole’s Modern Christmas, available through Ellen Hutson (as is the #110 Woodgrain Cardstock I feature in many of my pieces here).

wp-1513572476331-1701027121.jpg

For my final two pieces, I created some wine tags, as I recently had booths at an art show and night market here in Seattle. Holidays are a time for bubbly and fine festive drinks, alcoholic or not, so why not adorn a bottle at your table or as a gift!  I love this wine tag die which is quite old and no longer available.

PNW Birthday Buddies

PNW Birthday Buddies 1-1

Laura, I am sorry that the sun is not shining for you in the PNW (what else is new), I am sorry that Mercury is in retrograde (thus all my uploading woes), and thus I do apologize for being so unfashionably late. All that being said, I sure hope you have had a wonderful birthday weekend, and caught some sunny spring splendor Friday or late yesterday!  What a wonderful time of the year for a birthday when everything is bursting to life!

This card was inspired by the season and earth day!  I can’t wait to get digging in the dirt and my containers, as the front of the house is looking like a wasteland after the winter!

I’ve had this printed acetate from Studio Calico for awhile now and kept wanting to use it, but not really feeling inspired to.  Sometimes just spending time with your stash, organizing, reminding yourself of forgotten dies, and sifting through the bits and bobs leads to inspiration.  This is a a combo of new and old, and features a few different techniques.

For example, the hummingbird set from Hero Arts is brand new; I love these dies so much–you’ll be seeing more of this and the other bird soon.  I adhered some washi from a great Michael’s collection to some cardstock and then die cut.  I like this technique and it is a great way to create unique papers and use up washi, especially that which is getting older and losing its stick.

The sentiment from Papertrey Ink is adhered below the acetate.  Because anything will show under the acetate, adhering it itself is tricky, so glue dots were used under the die cuts.

The little Wellie is from an older My Creative Time die set.  The top layer of the boot is cut from hand-colored Ranger glossy paper using a combo of orange, pink and yellow alcohol inks.

I watercolored with brushos, available at The Heart Desires, and cut that paper with the new Waffle Flower leafy dies.   The new Waffle Flower collection looks so good with Savvy dies, and so I united the Savvy floral set here.

The inside is finished with the Michael’s washi set.

I’m the last stop on the hop, so make sure to head over to Laura’s blog and check out her recent work and wish her a happy birthday!

If you want to start at the beginning, head over to Tonya’s blog, our hostess for the event!

Many blessings to you Laura and your new year!

Here’s my take on the challenge!

If you follow my work on Instagram, you may know about my love affair with this diagonal window die!  I had no idea prior to ordering it how much fun it would be.  For my card, I have united quite a few stamp sets and products to create a unique focal point on the front of the diagonal window.

First off, the clovers– they were created from hearts in the Love You So set, stems from Altenew’s Striped Florals set, dots from Bokeh Dots set, and a little gilded spray from Concord and 9th’s Brushed Blossoms set!

The leaves/stem were stamped in Ranger Pigment Black Tie ink, heat embossed with Ranger Superfine clear powder, and then stamped over with the bokeh dots in Hero Arts Green Hills dye ink.  They were embellished with some gold Ranger Stickles.

Below you can see the sheen of the embossed stems/leaves, and the gilded leaves and spray.

wp-1488346918339.jpg

The 100# Linen Cardstock from Ellen is probably my favorite paper to use as a card base, and it is lovely as a textured stamping surface.  It’s heft creates a substantial and luxe card.

Using a variety of sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and Ellen Hutson and black wax twine, I created my signature sequin strands.  I love that the gold leaf was included in the PPP Woodlands mix— a complete coincidence that it matched the stems’ leaves perfectly!

wp-1488343408970.jpg

I find that the window die works better with some metal grommets if you want the recipient to be able to open and close it repeatedly.  I adhered these and cut the diagnoals open after stamping and embossing the images;

wp-1488345701319.jpg

Inside, I created a shaker card using an acetate window, more sequins, and some gold glass glitter!

wp-1488343882254.jpg

Shake it away to reveal the message, a sentiment from Up the Happy that underwent some stamp surgery to fit my purpose!

It was stamped on the folded card base in Ranger Black Tie Pigment Ink; I added the sequin/glitter mix, and then adhered the acetate.  Finally, I adhered the diagonal window layer!

wp-1488345701330.jpg

Once the outside was complete, I ran a strip of the new Little B Paper Tape in Jade along the bottom edge of the inner card!  It is the perfect green!

wp-1488342477928.jpg

You have until March 28th to play along!

Here’s hoping the luck of the Irish will rub off on you this week!  Happy St. Patrick’s Day and happy creating!

The Heart Desires Mid-Challenge

thd8_jan2017

January is nearing the end!  Have you written all your holiday thank you’s (no), New Year’s Greetings (no), belated holiday cards (no)?

And have you joined us over at THD for our 8th challenge?  If, like me, you answered no to the first three questions AND to the last question, well, what are you waiting for?!

My policy is that I can send thank you’s and New Years cards up until the last week of January (must be received by 1/31), and I am really trying to make that deadline!

If you need a further push, here’s my last card in my trio created for the challenge.

See others here.

I know, there’s no red featured in our inspiration graphic (one of these kids is always doing her own thing– sorry, not sorry), but I am pulling out the snowman and have worked in the lovely ice blues in the base paper, the sequin strand, and darker hues in the washi strip inside the card.

All papers featured here are from Snow Fun which can be found in The Heart Desires Store, along with other offerings from the collection!

The sequin strand is back with that darling snowman!! I’m trying to start a trend! Tag #ppsequinstrand  if you make one and share on IG!

THD Challenge #8

thd8_jan2017

Happy New Year and welcome to The Heart Desire’s first challenge of 2017!

Could there be more perfect images and colors to represent January?

For my first card, I was inspired by the snowman and shades of blue, though you’ll note I snuck in some holiday red.

My entire card features Carta Bella’s Snow Fun papers, which Tonya has in stock.  This pack of papers has so many possibilities for creating layered scenes and fun cards with or without stamping.  And since the pack is not Christmas/holiday focused, it is a perfect choice for making some fun winter/non-holiday greeting cards or scrapbooking those winter moments of skiing, sledding, skating, snowman-making!   I’ve used four of the designs here.

20170101_141008-01_wm.jpeg

The sentiment is from Carta Bella’s Snow Fun collection as well, which comes with coordinating dies.  Tonya has the other set which would be perfect on this card as well!

Carta Bella Wintertime Stamp Set

I’ve been creating these sequin strands lately as I ran out of my premade sequin ribbons. These are just so much more fun!  Here instead of wax twine, I have used hemp.

20170101_135533-01_wm.jpeg

Inside finished with some washi!  Snow in January is still so much fun, but as the months go on it’s harder to be happy with it!  Glad I live in a climate where I no longer need to deal with snow in April (unless I want to… in the mountains!).

Next card is more muted and captures some of the quiet blues and sparkle of the inspiration graphic.

wp-1483419623524.jpg

Going back in time here!  I say hello and you say goodbye!  It’s how the holidays go, no?

Again, I have selected portions of Snow Fun paper to create a layered scene.  This card features three different papers from the collection.  This one below is perfect for making these window cards.  So many possibilities!  I will have another card mid-challenge from this series, so check back in a couple weeks to see who I chose for the next card!

wp-1483419803922.jpg

I’ve created a shaker window for this card to represent crystal snow falling on the ice skaters.

wp-1483419977642.jpg

The banner sentiment is thick vellum and curved  upward for dimension.  The inside is finished with some fun splotchy snow red washi to echo the red of the birds  and scarf on front!

I hope you’re off to a creative new year and that you are inspired to play along with our challenge and check out this great set of papers, and entire winter collection from Carta Bella, available at the Heart Desires!
