This one will be a quickie after my last writing marathon!

This card features the Paper Smooches “We Totally Click” stamp set and Borders 1 notebook paper edge die.  I have pierced the little Moleskin knock-off with PTI’s stitching die, through which I wound some waxy hemp twine from Maya Road.

The idea with this card was a card-within-a-card as you can see below:

Cute, huh?  The inside and back are finished off with that awesome yellow newspaper print washi!

Happy New Year! Fun Cards to Ring in 2014

2014 is here and Pinned & Penned is back!

IMG_20140101_153612.560

I took a bit of an online hiatus–longer than anticipated!  However, I have been quite busy paper and fabric crafting over the last 3 weeks and am excited to share some of my latest creations!

Some New Year’s are full of glitz, other are quiet times of solitary reflection.  This year, I planned on the former, but experienced the latter, which was actually just what I needed, in the end.  My double, however, celebrated in style donning the very outfit I had planned to wear!  (The dress form is a much appreciated Christmas present!)

Having taken almost a week off work, I’ve been able to lose myself in creative projects and enjoy the flow without worry of time & place demands.  I hope, my fellow crafters, you have experienced some of this as well!   I had hoped to greet everyone with these cards yesterday, but I just couldn’t pull myself away from the craft table (and floor, and desk….)!

So without further ado, let us bid adieu to 2013!

The above image (and card below), was a sketch I had hanging on my idea board for two months, but never made into a holiday card!  I have more of these sketches on my idea board and holiday stamps that DIDN’T make it into cards than I wish to mention!!  Did this happen to anyone else??

So I pulled it down, added some Thickers, and voila, a sparkly New Years greeting.  The sentiment is from Amuse Studio’s “Hello December” set; the ornaments are from Penny Black, I believe, and they were stamped in Tuxedo Black ink, colored with Copics, and filled in with Glossy Accents and silver Stickles.

Next up: City Scene

Using my Seattle skyline die and some Basic Grey New Year’s Stamps, I had fun creating some simple, color & shape driven cards.  I created this card before I received my shipment of new Papertrey Ink products.  Once I did, this was the result:

wpid-IMG_20140101_152741.545.jpg

Using Papertrey’s Movers and Shakers die, I was able to create the ball drop I had envisioned with the first card.  I really like the way this die and the gem embellishments create a tuxedo-like image.

5-4-3-2-1 Happy New Year!

The number stamps are from Papertrey Ink’s Movers and Shakers sentiments set, stamped in Brilliance Black and embossed.

The inside uses the same number stamps as well as a sentiment from Paper Smooches.

For the next card, I used a cream and black combo:

It’s a bit difficult to see, but there are some glittery-embossed fireworks behind the Space Needle!

These little cards are headed over to the CAS-ology contest, which is still running until Sunday!  Count on some inspiring work from the ladies of over there!

I hope you have a movin’ and shakin’ New Year!  I am working on being more timely in all my ventures, but alas I have started off 2014 with a backlog of writing and crafting!  Such is the life a creative person, right?

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to connecting with you in 2014!

Little Gray Cat: Simon Says Stamp Challenge

A Super Cute Thank You

Since Simon Says Stamp has an Anything Goes challenge this week, and I just completed this card, I am going to play along with them.  And boy are there a lot of folks playing this week–over 800!!  That’s a lot of cards and creativity!  The Designer Spotlight cards are pretty awesome! Check them out!

Now, look at this little guy!!  Here’s another cat card I created for a veterinarian thank you.  I think this is the one I will send to our vet since this little tough guy is like my Leo–a little devil, but oh so cute!!

I used Copics COO, C2 & C4, as well as R01, R14 and R17, Memento Tuxedo Black and a light gray ink from Fresh Ink.

The die is from Paper Smootches, as well as the sentiment.

I have used this pop out technique on other cards, and like the effect, though I wasn’t as impressed with how the rectangle turned out.  I like the circle pop out better, which you can see here.

Here’s a close-up of my feline friend:

Thanks for checking out my work and make sure to head over to Simon Says Stamp for great inspiration and products!!

Whew, that’s a lot of cats for today!  And a lot of posts–a super lot!   That extra hour we gained really helped me today!

You can never have enough cats…or enough stamps….or enough crafting time!

This little guy will be popping up in the next post, so stop back soon!

Christmas is Love: Inlaid Die Cuts Part IV

Christmas is Love

Make It Monday #138: Inlaid Die-cuts

IMG_20131103_152238.773

Here’s my last installment for the Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge!

This darling embossed background is the second folder from the Sizzix snowflake set, covered with VersaMark Dazzle and clear embossing power, then heat set.  Look at those little deer!

I adhered it to Ellen Hutson’s Essentials by Ellen Woodgrain cardstock.

The sparkly inlaid sentiment is from Savvy dies, which I adhered to the Papertrey Ink’s Fillable Frames Die #4. I then cut two more of the frames from pine tree colored paper to shadow the main one.

Here’s the inside with another inlay–the sparkly heart at the bottom:

And the back, embellished with polka dot paper:

Inlaid Die Cuts Part III

Make It Monday #138: Inlaid Die-cuts

 merci

Here they are again those little Impression Obsession cats!  I mentioned my little Leo in the previous post; well, he had a bit of an emergency a couple weeks ago, and we had to take him to the vet where he under went anesthesia so they could perform a dental cleaning and potential extraction.  Luckily he didn’t need an extraction or anything else, but boy was I scared to have him put under!

They did a great job for our little guy and he was returned to us a little loopy but with healthier gums and teeth (minus one incisor!).

As a result, I thought of some sketches for veterinarian thank you cards.  This card is the only one that uses Papertrey Ink product, Mega Mixed Messages Set, so it is the submission to Make It Monday.

Since we believe Leo is part Chartreux, I thought the merci sentiment was perfect.  I stamped it on a die from the Spellbinders Postage Die set. Background paper is from Amuse Studio: Slate & Saffron.

What have others made over at Capture the Moment?  Make sure to pay everyone a visit and leave some comments!

Here is my other take on the original card

This one does not use any Papertrey Ink products.

thank mew2

The inside sentiment is from Paper Smootches Many Thanks Set.

I have created a few other versions of this card but they are not quite ready for unveiling!

I hope you enjoyed the feline frolicking!

If you love cats as much as I do, check out my cats in the grass card–I have more versions of this series to upload soon as well!

Merci de votre visite!
